Dear Families,
June is a month of celebration, reflection, and community. As we recognize Pride Month and Juneteenth, we honor the many identities, cultures, and stories that make CACC such a vibrant place for children and families to learn and grow together. We believe every child deserves to feel seen, loved, and proud of who they are.
This year also marks CACC's 55th anniversary, and we are excited to celebrate this milestone with the families who have always been at the heart of our work.
One of our favorite traditions is just around the corner: our Third Annual Community Festival on Saturday, June 27 from 12-3pm. We hope you'll join us for this free afternoon of fun featuring games, activities, community partners, delicious food, and opportunities to connect with one another. Please invite your friends, neighbors, and extended family members—everyone is welcome! More information can be found here.
In this issue, you'll also find ideas for fun and enriching summer activities to enjoy with your children. Whether you're exploring a local playground, reading together, gardening, or simply taking time to talk and play, these everyday moments help children learn, grow, and thrive.
Thank you for allowing us to partner with you in your child's early years. You are your child's first and most important teacher, and we are grateful to be part of your family's journey.

Junio es un mes de celebración, reflexión y comunidad. Al conmemorar el Mes del Orgullo y Juneteenth, honramos las diversas identidades, culturas e historias que hacen de CACC un lugar tan dinámico para que los niños y las familias aprendan y crezcan juntos. Creemos que cada niño merece sentirse visto, amado y orgulloso de quién es.
Este año también marca el 55.º aniversario de CACC, y nos entusiasma celebrar este hito con las familias que siempre han sido el corazón de nuestra labor.
Una de nuestras tradiciones favoritas está a la vuelta de la esquina: nuestro Tercer Festival Comunitario Anual, que se celebrará el sábado 27 de junio, de 12:00 p. m. a 3:00 p. m. Esperamos que nos acompañen en esta tarde gratuita y divertida, que contará con juegos, actividades, colaboradores comunitarios, comida deliciosa y oportunidades para conectar unos con otros. Por favor, inviten a sus amigos, vecinos y familiares; ¡todos son bienvenidos! Aquí encontrarán más información.
En esta edición, también encontrarán ideas para actividades de verano divertidas y enriquecedoras para disfrutar con sus hijos. Ya sea explorando un parque local, leyendo juntos, haciendo jardinería o simplemente dedicando tiempo a conversar y jugar, estos momentos cotidianos ayudan a los niños a aprender, crecer y prosperar.

This month, we're pleased to feature Jarrisa Tejeda, a preschool teacher in our Chipmunks 1 Boston Pre-K classroom. Since joining CACC in 2025, Jarrisa has brought warmth, joy, and dedication to her work with children and families. We are especially proud of her recent achievement of earning her bachelor's degree—a wonderful milestone that reflects her commitment to her profession and continuous learning.
What is your favorite part of working with the children?
My favorite part about working with children is that I get to teach them, watch them grow, and see them reach different milestones.
What is your favorite part of working at CACC?
My favorite part of working at CACC is that I get to work with other educators and children who grew up and come from where I do.
What is your favorite children’s book?
My favorite children’s book is “The Color Monster” by Anna Llenas. It helps explain feelings and emotions using colors, which has helped many children learn about the different emotions we experience.
What is your favorite children’s song?
Bino and Fino’s “Come on Let’s Dance!” or the Danny Go songs.
What is your favorite color?
My favorite colors are pink and black.
If you could be any animal, what would it be?
If I could be any animal, I would be a bird because I would love to fly through the sky.
What is the silliest thing that ever happened to you in the classroom?
The silliest thing that ever happened to me in the classroom was when I was running from a bee, and the children were laughing.
What is something valuable you’ve learned while working with the children and other teachers?
Something valuable I have learned while working with children and other teachers is that you can find joy in the little things, and that collaboration and respect are very important when working with other educators.
Este mes, nos complace presentar a Jarrisa Tejeda, maestra de preescolar en nuestra aula "Chipmunks 1" del programa Boston Pre-K. Desde que se unió a CACC en 2025, Jarrisa ha aportado calidez, alegría y dedicación a su trabajo con los niños y las familias. Estamos especialmente orgullosos de su reciente logro al obtener su título universitario: un hito maravilloso que refleja su compromiso con la profesión y el aprendizaje continuo.

Lo que más me gusta de trabajar con los niños es poder enseñarles, verlos crecer y observar cómo alcanzan diferentes hitos en su desarrollo.

Lo que más me gusta de trabajar en CACC es poder colaborar con otros educadores y trabajar con niños que crecieron y provienen del mismo entorno que yo.
¿Cuál es tu libro infantil favorito?
Mi libro infantil favorito es "El monstruo de colores" de Anna Llenas. Ayuda a explicar los sentimientos y las emociones mediante colores, lo cual ha servido para que muchos niños aprendan sobre las distintas emociones que experimentamos.
¿Cuál es tu canción infantil favorita?
"Come on Let’s Dance!" de Bino and Fino, o las canciones de Danny Go.

Mis colores favoritos son el rosa y el negro.
Si pudieras ser cualquier animal, ¿cuál serías?
Si pudiera ser cualquier animal, sería un pájaro, porque me encantaría volar por el cielo.
¿Qué es lo más gracioso que te ha pasado en el aula?
Lo más gracioso que me ha pasado en el aula fue cuando salí corriendo porque había una abeja y los niños se reían.
¿Qué has aprendido de valioso al trabajar con los niños y otros maestros?
Algo valioso que he aprendido al trabajar con niños y otros maestros es que se puede encontrar alegría en las pequeñas cosas, y que la colaboración y el respeto son fundamentales al trabajar con otros educadores.

Learning Through Summer Fun
Summer offers countless opportunities to learn through play, conversation, exploration, and everyday routines. Whether your child is heading to Kindergarten this fall or simply enjoying the season, these simple, low-cost activities can help build language, literacy, confidence, and curiosity while creating meaningful family memories.
Explore and discover. Visit a park, library, museum, or nature center. Plant seeds, cook together, or simply talk about what you see and do. These experiences build vocabulary and background knowledge that support future learning.
Sing songs together. Favorite songs and nursery rhymes help children hear patterns in language and develop early literacy skills. Don't worry about being pitch-perfect—the joy of singing together is what matters most!
Read aloud every day. Snuggle up with a favorite book at bedtime, on a rainy afternoon, or while waiting for an appointment. Reading together nurtures a love of books and strengthens listening and language skills.
Play word games. Try "I Spy" using colors, shapes, or beginning sounds. These playful conversations help children notice and manipulate the sounds in words.
Enjoy alphabet books. Read alphabet-themed stories and point out letters in signs, menus, and everyday print. Keep it fun and pressure-free.
Build strong hands through play. Activities like coloring, building with blocks, playing with playdough, digging in the sand, or using child-safe scissors help strengthen the muscles children use for writing.
The most important ingredient? Time together. A little conversation, reading, singing, and play each day can make a big difference—and create cherished summer memories along the way.

Aprender divirtiéndose en verano
El verano ofrece innumerables oportunidades para aprender a través del juego, la conversación, la exploración y las rutinas cotidianas.
