Summer is a joyful time at CACC! Children are learning outdoors, exploring our gardens, and bringing their creativity to everything they do.
We had a wonderful third annual Community Festival! More than 200 children, families, neighbors, and friends joined us for an afternoon of food, music, play, and fun. Thank you to everyone who celebrated with us and helped make the day so special. See more festival photos.
In this newsletter, we’re excited to introduce a new children’s book created by two CACC teachers and show you what’s growing around campus.

¡El verano es una época llena de alegría en CACC! Los niños aprenden al aire libre, exploran nuestros jardines y aportan su creatividad a todo lo que hacen.
¡Disfrutamos de un maravilloso tercer Festival Comunitario anual! Más de 200 niños, familias, vecinos y amigos nos acompañaron para disfrutar de una tarde de comida, música, juegos y diversión. Teacher Feature: Our Teachers Wrote a Book!
Maestros Destacados: ¡Nuestros maestros hicieron un libro!
CACC teachers José Alicea and Maria Reyes worked together to create Genesis and His Magical Shape Garden. José wrote the story, and Maria created the illustrations. The book was inspired by the way children explore nature, notice shapes, and learn by asking questions.
What inspired the story?
José: I watched children get excited as they explored outside, noticed different leaves and plants, and talked about what they saw. I wanted to create a story that makes learning fun and encourages children to be curious about the world around them.
What do you hope children notice in the pictures?
Maria: I hope children feel happy, excited, and confident as they turn each page. Shapes are everywhere! Most of all, I hope the illustrations spark their curiosity and inspire them to imagine, create, explore, and discover.
What do you hope families take away?
José and Maria: We hope families enjoy reading the book together, talking about what they see, and creating happy memories. Learning can be exciting, and nature is full of wonderful things to discover.

Los maestros de CACC José Alicea y Maria Reyes trabajaron juntos para crear Genesis and His Magical Shape Garden (Genesis y su jardín mágico de formas). José escribió el cuento y Maria hizo las ilustraciones. El libro se inspiró en la manera en que los niños exploran la naturaleza, descubren formas y aprenden haciendo preguntas.
¿Qué inspiró el cuento?
José: Vi la emoción de los niños al explorar al aire libre, observar diferentes hojas y plantas y conversar sobre lo que veían. Quise crear una historia que hiciera divertido el aprendizaje y animara a los niños a sentir curiosidad por el mundo que los rodea.
¿Qué esperas que los niños descubran en las ilustraciones?
Maria: Espero que los niños se sientan felices, entusiasmados y seguros al pasar cada página. ¡Las formas están en todas partes! Sobre todo, espero que las ilustraciones despierten su curiosidad y los inspiren a imaginar, crear, explorar y descubrir.
¿Qué esperan que las familias se lleven del libro?
José y Maria: Esperamos que las familias disfruten leyendo juntas, conversando sobre lo que ven y creando lindos recuerdos. Aprender puede ser emocionante, y la naturaleza está llena de cosas maravillosas por descubrir.

Our gardens are growing! Children are helping to water plants, look for changes, explore different colors and textures, and learn where food comes from. Ask your child what they have noticed in the garden this summer.
